TURKEY - Day 1 (1.9.2012) -
Istanbul - Day of Rest & it's Only Day One!
Having travelled for 22 hours from Johannesburg via Abu Dhabi, 8 hour stop over, we arrived in Istanbul at 6.30 am and eventually, after train and tram, we arrive at the Sultanahmed stop. With help from a Turkish carpet shop owner we were pointed in the right direction and soon found our hotel, the Sebnem Hotel. Our room was not ready but we were offered breakfast on the roof restaurant with a lovely view over the Bosphorus. We were soon off and running, up through the Blue Mosque to Grand Bazaar, then down to the Egyptian market and back on the tram. Once we had strolled back through Sultanahmed it was early to bed in preparation for an early start and 30 exciting days exploring Turkey.
